Student of the Week Raul Vegas

Where are you from?

My family is from Ecuador however I grew up in East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania which is a small town on the border of Jersey and PA. It’s the kind of town where if you used your imagination you could always find something fun to do.

What school do you go to?

I am a marketing major at the Fox School of Business at Temple University. Next semester I plan on graduating from Temple.

What made you choose to study abroad at Temple Rome?

Both of my parents encouraged me to take advantage of Temples study abroad program. At first I was very hesitant about whether or not I actually wanted to travel abroad. What really made me want to travel was coming overseas to watch soccer matches in Europe. I’m glad to say I’ve been to a Champions League match and a Roma game, and plan on going to see my favorite player, Lionel Messi in Barcelona at the end of the month. Now that I’ve been abroad for two months, I see how much it is going to benefit me down the road, and this experience has only made me want to travel as much as possible. I am so glad I decided to come and study in Rome.

What has been your favorite school experience?

The Roma match has for sure been my favorite school experience on this trip. I love fútbol (soccer) so anytime I get to go to the stadium I always have a great time. What made this time special was being at a game with some great people I’m lucky enough to call my friends. Being there with my friends Tony Beatz, Mark, Nicole, CJ, Joe D and the rest of the Temple crew definitely made this a unique and wonderful experience.

What has been your favorite experience so far?

The best experience I’ve had on this trip was visiting Budapest with my friends CJ and Pat. Sitting riverside with the boys talking about how great life is and admiring how amazing the city is will be something I won’t ever forget. Having fun at Sparty was just an added bonus to that astronomical experience. It’s one of those things where you had to enjoy every bit of the moment while it was happening. To Infinity and Beyond!

What do you hope to accomplish before leaving?

I’m going to Barcelona so if by some miracle I could run into Lionel Messi that would be a dream come true. However realistically I hope to accomplish making the most out of the rest of this trip and taking advantage of the rest of the cities I plan on visiting. Oh, and finishing the semester with good grades of course.
