It was in the spring of 2009 that Ciocia and Prateek Patel fell in love with two things: Rome and each other. The couple, now happily married and launching their careers as recently minted Temple MBA alums, knew each other before spending the semester in the Eternal City, but it was here, during class excursions to Hadrian’s Villa and the Borghese Museum, sitting in the pristine silence of the unfathomable Sistine Chapel for the first time, wandering the city with sketchbook in hand, and “hanging out in Villa Borghese,” that the couple realized they were meant to be. As Ciocia, who works at the Small Business Development Center at Temple, writes, “the time I spent at Temple Rome was one of the best experiences of my life. I fell in love with how Rome’s history and art penetrated everyday life in such a modern metropolitan city. The faculty and staff provided us with cultural tours, excursions and unique learning opportunities outside of the classroom. The long weekends and spring break allowed for traveling to other cities in Europe.” The couple revisited Rome and TUR this spring, happy to be back in the ancient city that brought them together.
