At the beginning of each session, Temple Rome hosts a multi-day Orientation for all students which includes essential health and safety information, social events and several activities to introduce students to the Italian language, food and culture, as well as their new “home” in Rome.
Every Orientation culminates in a day-long excursion to the Umbrian countryside, with visits to the medieval hill town of Todi and a sumptuous lunch at Titignano castle.
Throughout each semester or summer, Temple Rome students continue to engage actively with members of the local community through several events. Watch the video below.

PHOTO SCAVENGER HUNT
Discover the secrets of Rome in this interactive, group game. Unravel all the clues and be the first to return to Temple with group photos at all the hidden destinations. The winning team gets a free pizza dinner!
Faculty will take you for a nice walk in the neighborhood around Temple Rome. Learn where to get the best coffee and pastries near school. Learn how to buy a metro/bus ticket and how to get on and off a bus. Visit the local market and learn how Italians shop for fresh fruit and vegetables. Find out where the best Panini are near Temple Rome.
Learn how to make that quintessential Italian dessert: Tiramisu’! Interactive cooking competition and lesson with TUR professors. The various tiramisu’ creations will be judged by an illustrious panel of experts and the winners will receive free gelato.
All-day walk along the ancient Aurelian Wall (270-275 AD) for a truly unique introduction of Rome’s past and present.
WINE TASTING NIGHT
An Italian sommelier will provide you with a comprehensive guide to understanding Italian wine. How it is made, evaluated, served, and consumed. A wine tasting will follow. A wine glass will be given to each student as a memory of the event.
UNIVERSITY OF ROME “SAPIENZA” TOUR
Take a walk with Gianni around the University of Rome campus. See the differences between the American and Italian University system. Includes a visit to the student quarter in San Lorenzo.
Temple Rome offers a variety of community service projects for students to participate in.
Informal get together for questions and answers. Good opportunity to meet Italians and learn more about life in Rome and Italian culture.
If you like to play soccer then experience the small-sided soccer game that Italians play, this is a good opportunity to get to know each other having fun!
After a long day of classes, it feels great to wind down with a night time yoga lesson, that gives you a healthy body and a positive mind, remov ing the build-up of tension and preparing you for a restful night’s sleep.
Watch a ROMA game with romans at the Olimpic stadium, you will see and hear the difference between “American Football” and “European Football”. Enjoy the experience and of course…”Forza Roma”!
