Born in Rome, Matteo Bottacchiari is a PhD student in Theoretical and Applied Mechanics at Sapienza University of Rome, Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering.

His research activity focuses on phase-field models for simulating biological membranes, with particular regard to their topological transitions in fusion and fission events. Such events are involved in most of the fundamental processes of cell life and are of great interest for drug delivery applications.  Matteo Bottacchiari is also Guest Student at the Center for Life Nano- & Neuro-Science of the Italian Institute of Technology in Rome.
